Sooo… Brigitte brought the heat to HSBC!

Ok ok ok so I know it’s been awhile since you have heard from me- but trust your girl has been on the grind in 2020. Last time we talked- I attended the DIFC RUNWAY in Dubai but Devereaux has done soooo much more since then. Yep look at me talking in the third person because Devereaux has officially become my alter ego. She is the girl that gets me to go beyond my limits and do crazy things like enter this competition.

Speaking of done so much more AND Devereaux. Did I tell you that I have finally finished the entire BETA COLLECTION and cannot wait for you to see it. With that being said- I decided to take one of the Beta beauties out on an afternoon date to my first ever golfing championship in Abu Dhabi and needless to say- she and I did not disappoint.

I am talking about “Brigitte” named for iconic French bombshell- Brigitte Bardot. She in all of her rose gold regality and I made our debut on the runway of Ladies Day for the Abu Dhabi Gold Championship hosted by HSBC Bank and Rolex.

So a little backstory- I have an incredible support group of girls overseas and our coordinator of all things social- Madame Clare Fitchett Banks arranged for us to attend the Ladies Day Weekend with her as she watched her amazing athletic sons- Alexander and Austin participate in the tournament. She also noted that there would be a competition of BEST DRESSED for the ladies with prizes to FREE brunches, spa days, hotel stays and the GRAND PRIZE of 300,000 airline miles courtesy of Etihad Airways which is the equivalent to one business class travel ticket to the USA AND the entry was FREE the entire DAY. I mean could it get any better than FREE!

With that being said, my girls and I had even more incentive to attend but not only attend- to show up and show out. Recently- I hosted my pop up at Emirates Palace and previewed the BETA Collection and the reaction that Brigitte received was outstanding- so it was a no brainer that she was going to be my breakout star for the BEST DRESSED competition.

We arrived to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club which is attached to the Westin Hotel for an afternoon of fabulousness but never did I know that golf could be so fun.

While I set out to find a cocktail and the sign up table for the competition- I was actually approached by an organizer of the event who also worked for Emirates Woman Magazine and she asked me if I would be interested in participating in the BEST DRESSED competition. It was then that I thought okay maybe just maybe I have a shot.

We signed up and awaited for 3:30pm for the fun to begin- but not before a little liquid courage in the form of a Bacardi beverage and taking in the beauty of the golf course.

We even managed to catch a bit of the golfing- because after all that’s what the girls were there for right? HAHAHAA

The stage was set. The music was blaring and the ladies were all lined up. It was then that I realized that the competition was stiff and if I wanted to win- then I would have to BRING IT.

Ladies were laced in their finest of smart casual fineries and as my good gal friend Dawn pushed me to the stage- I knew okay this is the moment to go hard or go home. All I could hear was Carlos telling me “don’t come home without those business class miles”.

I hit the runway and the crowd went wild. I had to channel my inner Dominique from 10 years ago when I was young, carefree and a couple ok more than a couple of pounds lighter.

What made it even more fun is that the crowd and the press had tons of energy as well. I mean let’s be honest- not necessarily what you expect from a typical golf crowd. I could hear one photographer yell- “GIVE IT TO ME- LET ME SEE YOU!” And that was it- he lit the match and I let it burn baby burn! Not to mention my girls gave it a shot as well- so we all went out there together because WE RIDE TOGETHER- WE DIE TOGETHER!

I even ran into my good friend and fellow fashionista- Clare of Cosmopole who always wears the coolest stuff in a very cute and lightweight graphic maxi.

Then there was Lan- @lanpstanleyart who showed up decked out for the Gods in a gorgeous feathered frock.

And then there was my girl- Ellen Ashton who has the most awesome ruffled red pants with just the perfect amount of flare and fun. Her whole look was so chic. She is the beautiful daughter of my good friend- Bethan who is always giving me deets on all things “proper, plush, posh, lush and mangy”.

The competition wrapped and it was time for the winners to be announced and I was more than shocked to say the least. Honestly, I just knew that Lan- the lady in feathers had won because she looked incredible in my eyes.

We couldn’t believe it- not ONE but TWO of our crew took home 1st AND 2nd place. We celebrated alllllll night long with libations and lots and lots of honey sriracha wings and laughter.

Not to mention we ended up with complimentary access to the 17th Sky Box Suites that came with food and cocktails.

It was there that I ran into last year’s winner who congratulated me on what she called a well deserved win. She was so warm, giving me tips on how to spend my miles and she looked just as fabulous this year as she did last year.

This was an afternoon turned to night that I would never forget and needless to say when it comes to golf- I gotta get more involved if it leads to unforgettable times with some unforgettable ladies like this.

Now for what I wore. Of course, I paired my Brigitte blazer made of French rose gold brocade and rose gold leather textured trimmed lapels and buttons with a sleeveless ruffled top from Zara and a steal of some $22 medium washed jeans from Reserved along with some Rose Gold Reebok Luxe sneakers or trainers as my posh British friends call them.

I then accented the look with my Dior brooch from the Champs D Elysses, a rose gold roped chain from Charming Charlie, my Christmas Lexington pewter and rose Michael Kors watch and oversized Gucci tortoise sunnies and thin leopard print belt that coordinated with the lining of my blazer. Because if you don’t by know- #itsallinthedetails when it comes to Devereaux. So get into this look that is a mix of high and low price points.

Which reminds me- it was rumored that some ladies were “teed off” get it tee- like golf tee, ok yeah I’m corny. Anyhow they believed that a lady should have never won such an elegant event donning jeans and I will just say this. Take a look at American fashion designer and legend- Ralph Lauren who recently attended a GALA- in GASSSSSPPPPP, a blazer and what- are those jeans?” YASSSSSSS and that is what DEVEREAUX does makes smart casual looks that turn heads!

All I can say if it’s good enough for the King of Americana style and fashion- then it’d good enough for me!

A few days later- not only was there a video posted to their social @abudhabigolfchamps but I learned that there was a feature in ON THE TEE Magazine by GOLF DIGEST Middle East. Check out your girl!

It’s been fun and until next year- keep it haute for HSBC because my crew and I will be back. Stay tuned for more of my adventures in Abu Dhabi!

Xoxo,

Brigitte and Devereaux
